Study indicates Economic Benefit of weight loss in people with diabetes

A study present at an annual meeting of the American Diabetic Association showed that overweight people with Type II diabetes, decrease their average health care costs with weight loss. Many local patients in Texarkana suffer from diabetes and its health effects. With weight loss, Type II diabetics can actually get rid of their diabetes!

Employers paying high medical costs for obesity

A study in the March issue of the "Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine" reports that obesity is a costly aspect medical claims costs. The authors of the paper concluded that intervention to reduce obesity may lead to reducing health claims costs and also lower employee health risks.

Former President Clinton unveils plan to fight childhood obesity

February 13, 2006 Former President Bill Clinton and officials from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation unveiled a plan to fight childhood obesity. With more than 9 million children in the U.S. considered obese, there is concern that this gneration of children will have shorter life spans than their parents.

Free webcast highlighting less invasive treatments for stroke prevention.

There was a live webcast featuring a vascular surgeon performing carotid artery stenting on December 6, 2005.
